NART FERRARI 512 BERLINETTA BOXER
Ferrari Berlinetta Boxer began to replace the iconic Daytona in 1971, he was a revolutionary advance. It was the first mid-engined road car Ferrari and, in the wake of the Lamborghini Miura, one of the first mid-engined sports cars on the market. Unfortunately, there has never been approved for the North American market, but all rules have their exceptions. And it is one of them.
After replacing the 4.4-liter flat-12 in the first GT4/BB 365 with 5.0-liter unit in the BB 512, Ferrari returned to the racing game of endurance sports with 512 BB / LM. In fact, only 25 examples, only 19 saw action switches - 14 in Le Mans - including this particular example. One of the last to do so, this fighter was commissioned by Luigi Chinetti's North American Racing Team (NART).
body chassis 35527 has a longer tail to go with the long nose of the current 512 BB / LM - Pininfarina styling was so APED the 365 GT Special, we reported on recently - and an engine rated at 560 horsepower to push a chassis coupled to less than 2,500 kg. Transmission has also been strengthened in response to failures experienced by previous examples, which is unfortunately not prevent transmission of this car to make the soul at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1982, when running 3: Total E - not just in its category - almost the end of the race.
